Information on Anxiety Disorders

 Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is a feeling people can universally relate to. Everyone has felt anxious at one point in their life. Some people may deal with anxiety and stress more effectively or recover from stressful events quicker than others. It is, however, important to know your limits when it comes to stress to avoid more serious health effects. There are several types of anxiety disorders including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety disorder.

Many people often feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. Anxiety disorders, however, are different. They can cause such distress that it interferes with a person’s ability to lead a normal life.

An anxiety disorder can be a serious mental illness. For people with anxiety disorders, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and can be crippling.

Depression is another mood disorder that may cause a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also known as major depression, major depressive disorder, or clinical depression, it can impact how you think, feel, and behave. It can also lead to a number of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble functioning in your normal day-to-day activities, and depression may make you feel as if life isn’t worth living.

Depression isn’t simply something you can snap out of. It is more than just a bout of the blues. Depression may require long-term treatment and support.
